Woodlark Study

Gouache study of a Breckland speciality.

Shortly before the lockdown was announced due to Covid-19, I went for a ramble in the Brecks with my other half. We are so fortunate to see many pairs of this gorgeous, un-common lark.

I’m looking back on all of my reference photos I’ve taken in the recent past and doing some little gouache studies of them.

I plan on making these in to greeting cards at some point – I think they’d fit very well amongst some wildlife reserve gift shops, especially places like Weeting Heath!

The first image is very much my ‘Covid-19 Survival Kit’ throughout lockdown. I love being able to see and watch the birds from my window, drink tea and paint – heaven!
