Lucky Rabbit’s Foot Good Luck Charm
Are you feeling down on your luck? Well, this lucky rabbit’s foot may just be the thing you need to invite some good fortune in to your life!
Ethically sourced from roads local to me that I personally picked up as a result of a road traffic accident. The skin is preserved using modern taxidermy methods and mounted on to an accurate cast of the foot anatomy itself, paired with a beautiful ornate silver cap.
You can check out more information about my ethical taxidermy practices on my sister site, Taxidermy Co. UK.
The Folklore of Lucky Rabbit Feet
There’s a bunch of information out there on why rabbit’s feet are deemed to be lucky, but nobody really seems to have a solid answer…but the general consensus from years gone by is that:
- Out of the lagomorph family, hares in particular were known to have magical powers and there is a vast history of them being associated with witchcraft and the mysterious. The magical properties of the hare were most potent within its limb. As hares and rabbit’s feet are indistinguishable on their own, both were eventually used as good luck talismans.
- The left hind foot of the rabbit seems to hold the most luck
- If deceased in a cemetery on a grave, extra luck is ensued (the meaner the person, the better!)
- You get extra luck points if the rabbit died under a dark moon on Friday 13th!
*Please note that I am NOT advocating that you inflict harm on these poor creatures, otherwise it will be unlucky for you both! I am simply noting historical references and the origin of folklore and reviving it in a much more ethically minded manner!
