Here’s my latest work in progress and second entry for the Wildlife Artist of the Year competition.

I have a way to go yet, but I’m really enjoying painting the iridescence of the Satin Bower Bird and all of his treasure!

The Satin Bower Bird is native to Australia and the males collect ‘treasure’ to decorate their incredibly intricate bowers in a bid to impress females.

I’ve used a delicate ‘blurred’ effect for the background to give depth to the painting.

Can’t wait to get this one finished!
