Skull Wallpaper Design
Hitting the ground running this new year with these skull inspired wallpaper series!
Animal anatomy has always has a big influence on my work, even when I was little, I find it so inspiring (which is sort of why I took up taxidermy on the sideline).
I started out my alternative skull wallpaper designs by simply observing, drawing, painting and playing around with different shaped animal skulls.
As I began to experiment by replicating them in a symmetrical manner, I noticed a pattern forming, almost the shape of a flower. I continued to experiment and explore this process to find out that each different animal skull made a completely different pattern, which I adored! I never knew which pattern a particular skull would make, so it was super fun and interesting to find out as I was designing them! I then added some geometric shapes to finished the designs which seamlessly complimented the organic, floral shapes the skulls have made.
Each pattern is highly customisable, in terms of scale, pattern and colour. Each overall design looks like a simple, subtle pattern to begin with, then upon closer inspection, skulls appear. I’m currently getting in contact with various interior/wallpaper retailers and companies to take this design off of my hands to make my dream a reality! I would absolutely love for this to be put in to production as real wallpaper as I’ve already had quite a few people telling me they want to decorate their house with it, which is fabulous!I mocked up the designs to show you how they’d work; The skulls included in these designs feature a wolf, horse and kudo. I hope you enjoy them!
