Deyan Sudjic and Luke Pearson visited London’s New Designers’ One Year On fair where 56 emerging designers were selected to showcase their work a year after graduating. The two design experts discussed some of the challenges faced by graduates and chose some of the designers that particularly stood out.
I was absolutely thrilled to be in this weekends Financial Times newspaper following my appearance at New Designers One Year On exhibition (week 2), in which I exhibited my taxidermy work with my brand ‘Perished Pets‘. It’s a massive honour and I’m extremely proud to be considered as an ’emerging young design star to look out for’ . You can read the full online article here.
It was an exhausting show, but I had so much fun and met so many amazing and talented people! I loved watching visitors expressions as they walked around the corner to see my stand with all of my dead things. Even the people that weren’t sure on the idea were still truly fascinated – I even managed to talk to some people and change their minds on taxidermy and they ended up wanting to ‘adopt’ something! Highlights for me included having photographers that worked for Ted Baker talking to me about the possibility of commissioning me to do some more unusual taxidermy pieces for future fashion photoshoots. Another contact that works at Mint gallery in London also have given me the opportunity to exhibit with them at this years London Design Festival. I am so excited, full steam ahead!
In between this, I will still be doing my graphic design and illustration work, do not fear! #busy
